IP Rights Conference seeks solutions for sector crisis

  USPTO (Unites States Patent and Trademark Office) organized a conference concerning IP Rights at the Dbayeh Convention Center in the presence of a large number of specialists, lawyers and experts. Sader & Associates law firm was represented by managing partner attorney Rany Sader and attorneys Nisrine Haddad, Carole Chedid, and Jouhayna Amro.

  Many American specialists lectured at the conference; Attorney Ben Hardman (USPTO) explained the importance of IP Rights and the problems facing this sector, in addition to the basics related to WTO and International Treaties.

  Attorney Cynthia Henderson (USPTO) gave a presentation on trademarks, geographical indications of IP Rights and the basis upon which these indications are established. Patents and the dangers facing the pharmaceutical industry were the major issues addressed by attorney Karen Fritter (USPTO) who introduced a number of problematic issues that affect this vital sector and ways to deal with them according to public interest. The last speech was given by Mr. Robert Stoll, Dean of training and education in USPTO, on the enforcement of intellectual property rights. He gave various examples and stressed the importance of training and awareness in improving IP protection and preventing tribulations.
