The Economic Significance of Copyright

  In collaboration with the Lebanese Ministry of Economy & Trade, the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) has organized the «Significance of Copyright-National Conference», held at the Economic and Social Council-Beirut.All speakers agreed on the importance of the issue, and the lack of respect given to it by the administrative body in the country, amongst actor Antoine Kerbaj, composer Elias Rahbani, director Phillip Araktanji, Microsoft Middle East representative Ali Harakeh, president of the IT committee in the Beirut Bar Association Tony Issa, and Judge Nasseeb Elia.

  Attorney Rany Sader (Sader & Associates advocates and legal consultants) reflected the publishing point of view regarding the copyright difficulties. In his speech Sader gave true examples of all obstacles facing the publishing industry in this regard, especially the low rate damage-interest verdicts, and the widespread of copyright violation.
