Honoring the Honorary Dean at La Sagesse University

Sfeir receives the grade of Doctor Honoris Causa from Nancy 2 University

  The French University of Nancy 2 has honored the honorary Dean at La Sagesse University ? Sader & Associates senior partner for his extensive efforts and large contribution towards the cooperation and coordination between the two universities and his important achievements in the legal field.

 Held every two years in honor of distinguished personalities from different continents for their efforts and accomplishments in the field of science, education and knowledge; this solemn and sumptuous ceremony was attended by the Presidents of the three Nancy Universities, the deans of the different faculties of these universities, the Dean of the Faculty of Law at La Sagesse University ? Dr. Maroun Boustany ? and a number of important personalities.

  The ceremony took place at the Lorraine Opera House organized by the Universities of Nancy 2 and the Henry Poincaré University in cooperation with the Lorraine National Technical Institute, in honor of Dean Sfeir who was granted by Nancy University the distinction of Doctor Honoris Causa, considered the highest distinction in accordance with the University Statutes.

  The President of the Nancy 2 University made the inaugural speech followed by a presentation allocution from Dean of the Faculty of Law, Olivier Cachard, mentioning that ? by its size and erudition, this monumental Treatise in Private International Law, published in 2005 by Sader and Bruylant, is unique in the academic kaleidoscope of private international law. No one has up till now dared to compare the rules of private international law of some fifty States to extricate the core of a general theory? He concluded : ?In conferring the grade of Doctor Honoris Causa to this French educated scholar of international repute, Nancy University is honored and makes of Khalil Sfeir its prestigious ambassador?.

  In turn, Dean Sfeir our senior partner thanked his hosts describing the phases of launching the coordination process between the two universities: La Sagesse and Nancy 2.

  Sfeir praised the existence of strong ties between Lebanon and France, in the different fields, emphasizing on the fact that his presence in Nancy is much alike his presence in Lebanon among his family and friends.

  In addition to Dean Sfeir, the University honored five prominent scholars and researchers from the U.S.A., Scotland, Cameroon and Belgium constituting a wide educational variety having in common the will to devote their efforts towards the efficient interaction of the cooperation mechanism.

  The omnipresence of Lebanon by its flag and its national hymn has made the joy and pride of our Doctor Honoris Causa !
